Aberdares National Park is host to some of the best waterfalls in Kenya and it also has the tallest waterfall in Kenya, Karuru Waterfall which has 3 tiers or steps that total to 273m high
Besides Karuru, we’ll also check out the thunderous Chania Falls and the beautiful Magura falls (also known as Queen’s falls)
Visiting Karuru falls will involve a 9km moderate hike – 4.5km downhill and 4.5km back uphill. Elevation change is approximately 200m thus you need to be reasonably fit to attempt this steep though short hike
The other 2 falls are quite close to the main road and only takes about 15 and 5 minutes each to visit them
Along with visiting the 3 waterfalls, we might also be able to see wildlife and birds as we drive along the roads inside Aberdares National Park
Cost of the hike will cover
- Transport by bus
- Entry fees for Kenyans
- Ranger fees
- Light snacks and emergency water
This hike is suitable for kids as young as 10 years – please also note that all kids must be accompanied by an adult
