A favourite amongst members is this 2 day and 1 night safari to the home of elephants, Amboseli National Park
The park located near the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro has an abundant elephant population which take refuge in its swamps and wide-open plains in search of water and food, especially during the dry months
The park also has a variety of other wildlife such as lions, cheetahs, foxes, hyenas, wildebeest, hippo, giraffe, impala, gazelles as well as rarely seen kudu, reedbucks and zebra. The birdlife here is amongst the highest in variety in Kenya
Itinerary
Day 1
1. Meet in town opposite International House at 6:15am
2. Departure at 6:30am
3. Washroom break at Emali or any other suitable location
4. Expect to arrive at Kimana gate at Noon
5. Deal with entry, washroom break, group photo
6. Begin safari
7. Around 1:30pm, arrive at Observation hill – washroom break, lunch break, relax until 2:30pm
8. Continue with safari and then exit the park at 6pm
9. Arrive at lodging for dinner and sleep
Day 2
1. Early morning breakfast from 5:30 am
2. Expect to arrive at the gate at 6:15 to 6:30am
3. Early morning game drive
4. Safari until 11:30am and exit back the camp
5. Early Lunch at the camp up to 1pm or so
6. Return to Nairobi with one washroom break
7. Expect to be back by 6:00pm
Please note that on the road timings may not be exact due to traffic, road condition and other issues
We can’t forget to mention that Mount Kilimanjaro looms over the park to the south and on a good clear day the whole mountain can be seen, including the snow capped crater
Our lodge of stay will be AA Lodges
These rates will cover:
- Transport and safari by tour van for the 2 days and 1 night from Nairobi and back
- Entry fees for Kenyans/residents for 1 nights. Non residents would pay 90 USD more
- Full board at AA Lodges
- Light snacks on day 1
Costing is as follows:
- Single room at 18,800 per person
- Double rooms at 17,000 per person
- Triple rooms at 16,800 per person
We will also be giving out binoculars to use during the safari for better viewing experiences. We have up to 25 pairs of binoculars that will be shared out amongst attendees – this is at no extra cost and is part of the package
