« Back to All Trips

Located to the north of Lake Naivasha is Eburru forest which is a mixture of indigenous trees, woodland forest and parts of montane forest. The forest is close to Lake Elementaita in the north and part of the greater Mau forest complex

The forest has several different trails ranging from 9km to 22km long. Our selected trail will be 16km long to offer a good mix of scenery, sights and challenges

Due to the 16km length with several valley crossings and ascents, the hike will be considered moderate level

Near the starting point of the hike
First part of the hiking trail is wide open dirt and rocky track
Pretty soon we get into the forest and the trees get closer while giving a cooler atmosphere

In some places the trails can be tighter and visibility can be less

For some part of the trail, there would be a bit of climb involved as we traverse valleys
If the weather is good, we may be able to see Lake Naivasha and Mt. Longonot along the horizon from certain parts of the trail

The cost of the hike will cover

  • Transport by bus from Nairobi CBD and back
  • Entry fees for Kenyan Adults – for residents and non residents, the fee will be 250 and 500 Kshs more respectively
  • Ranger/guide fees
  • Water and light snacks

This hike is suitable for kids as young as 14 years – please also note that all kids must be accompanied by an adult
