On your way to Mombasa from Nairobi, you’ll likely see many rocky hills along the main highway. We will be climbing two of these hills located between Salama and Sultan Hamud. This hike is categorised as moderate to difficult with the total hiking distance at 18km
The climb starts at a small shopping centre and then winds up the hill over dusty paths and then later rocky outcrops. Some sections during the climb can be steep and good shoes are needed. As the climb progresses, we will get spectacular views of the highway and lands below as well as the SGR line
The hike creches the top near the cell tower masts and then follows a gentle descent along dirt roads and over rocky river beds to reach the main highway.
We then cross the highway to trek to the next hill, which is Armchair hill, a rocky scree covered hill with several thorny bushes. The summit for this hill is not well defined and we’ll get as close as we can before descending on the other side followed by the our return to the pick up point
We’ll add the description soon
