« Back to All Trips

Located on the southern slopes of Mt. Kenya is Kathandeni Forest which holds the mesmerising Mlango Pool falls, so named due to the way the water gushes out of a door like exit from the cliff. The trail starts off on a clear grass path then forks out into the forest. The closely knit vegetation brushes against one’s face and hands and there are several fallen logs that one has to jump over. There’s also a section of the river where one has to cross over a big fallen tree trunk

The trail we will be covering leads to Mlango Pool where we will relax, swim and then head back to the starting point. Expected hike distance is 12km with an altitude change of about 200m which makes this a moderate level.

The cost of the hike will cover
  • Transport by bus from Nairobi CBD and back
  • Entry fees for Kenyan Adults – for residents and non residents, the fee will be 250 and 500 Kshs more respectively
  • Ranger/guide fees
  • Water and light snacks
