Join us on a leisurely walk at Ngong Road Forest Section 1 where we will be guided by birding experts on the search for different species of birds
A bird walk is a slow measured walk in any area as we keep our eyes and ears open for any sightings and calls from birds in the area. Bird walks are usually conducted for research but they are also an excellent way of learning more about the world around us
We expect to record as many as 50 species of birds at the forest depending on weather and sightings. Our bird walk will be led by 2 experts in the birding field who will share their knowledge on how to look for birds and identify some of the well known species
Besides birds, we may also see several insect species as well as wildlife such as baboons
For this event, we’re restricting the maximum number of confirmed registrations to 30 so that we can keep the group size small enough for everyone to learn something and to keep the group together
The event is also quite child friendly and kids as young as 6 can join
Cost will cover the following:
- Guiding fees for the 2 birding experts
- Entry fees for the forest for Kenyans. Residents and non residents would pay 120 and 240 Kshs extra respectively
- Very light snacks
- Shared use of binoculars with max 2 people per binoculars
Please note that for this event, transport will not be provided and you’re expected to arrive at the location using your own means
The meet up location is at the entrance to Ngong Road Forest Section 1.
Directions:
If coming from town, you can board a matatu plying Ngong road and alight right after the Ngong road Southern bypass flyover system. After crossing the road, the entrance would be on your left
