The hike starting point is at road end camp, approximately 3500m ASL. A wide field good for stretches, with amazing views.
A steep ascent awaits us, approximately covering about 200m that has you at 3,700 m ASL. We encourage you to take it slow before altitude sickness knocks you down
Path past the first ascent, it is on the slope of a valley. Within the valley is a river
Rock formations from the volcanic action of Mt. Elgon.
View of the valley , we will walk through and glimpse Koitoboss in the distance

Getting into contact with the river that serves as a source of other rivers within Trans Nzoia & Bungoma County.
Full view of Koitoboss peak past the 2nd ascent
After a series of short climbs, you get to the foot of Koitoboss. Take a breather and enjoy the views, there’s still a bit of a stretch and you need the strength
The summit push officially begins here. Certain points require you to use your hands and knees to go up, if you are not as flexible as you’d like to be
Side view of Koitoboss, a very daunting image
We walk around the peak, the path leads to the best way to summit.
Finally at the peak

300-year-old tree, needs about 10 people, hands held to completely go round the trunk.

  • Good hiking boots – these are really needed due to the bog & rocky terrain.
  • Trousers /long sleeved tshirts – due to the dense thickets and thorns, there are high possibilities of being scratched.
  • Sun hat – to protect against the sun and overhead branches
  • Gloves- it can get cold.
  • Water – at least 2 litres
  • Rain coat/waterproof jacket-in the event of rain.
