- Destination type: Hikes
Located near mukaa town , a few km from Salama is Kenze Gorges – an immense chain of eroded river rocks winding down from the heights.
The hike starts from Mukaa town, crossing over rolling hills with wide open fields before getting to the main attraction, the rover bed with gigantic exposed river rocks and boulders, showcasing us the natural beauty of river erosion
As we continue our descent, more and more rock formations show up and this goes on for nearly a kilometer. We may even see calm and quiet pools of water left behind by recent rains
Once done with the rock formations, we climb back up on a different hill and make our way back to the starting point
The starting point is less than 100km from Nairobi and we estimate that it would take us about 2.5 hours to arrive at the starting point
Our destination is Mukaa town and our route would be via Mombasa highway up to Salama town and then we divert to Mukaa
