For those looking for a hike close to Nairobi, this is a great option. It’s a beginner 12-13km forest hike located in Nderi, just a few km past Sigona Golf Club, under 1.5 hours drive from Nairobi
The hike starts at the KEFRI headquarters and passes through the forest, open fields, bamboo thickets before returning us back to the starting point
The trail can be slightly different from what we researched and this brings about the variation in trail length.

The cost of the hike will cover
- Transport by bus from Nairobi CBD and back
- Entry fees for Kenyan Adults – for residents and non residents, the fee will be 250 and 500 Kshs more respectively
- Ranger/guide fees
- Water and light snacks
This hike is suitable for kids as young as 10 years – please also note that all kids must be accompanied by an adult
