For any person interested in starting their journey with mountain climbing, the most popular option is to begin with Mount Longonot which is located 2.5 hours drive from Nairobi

The mountain is a volcano with a clear crater that you can hike around. The highest point is 2780 m while the total hike is 12.5km or so

The hike can take anywhere between 5-8 hours depending on your fitness and stamina and is considered to be a moderate hike due to the elevation change of 630m
Cost of the hike will cover
- Transport by bus from CBD and back
- Entry fees for Kenyans. Residents would need to top up with 175 Kshs while non residents add 55USD
- Emergency water and light snacks
