Mau Mau Caves Nanyuki

Mau-Mau Cave situated in Kenya, is a blend of stunning geology and rich historical significance, perfect for adventure seekers and history enthusiasts alike. Located at the slopes of Mt. Kenya, the cave was used by freedom fighters as a hideout from colonial forces and a place to store supplies. Now the place gives you a chance to explore the natural beauty of the area. It’s a beautiful recreation place for both adults and kids.

The cave is inside the Burguret River and has a beautiful waterfall adjacent. The trail starting point is just before Trout Tree restaurant and takes 4 – 6 hrs depending on one’s pace. The trail is generally flat, has a gentle slope and a down and up towards the waterfall. Hence very beginner friendly.

Most sections are on a well-paved dirt road combined with grass in some sections and sometimes stones. The way back is the same route and the total distance is around 14.5km
