Join us on a captivating bird walk at Olorgesailie Prehistoric site where we will be guided by birding experts on the search for different species of birds

A bird walk is a slow measured walk in any area as we keep our eyes and ears open for any sightings and calls from birds in the area. Bird walks are usually conducted for research but they are also an excellent way of learning more about the world around us

We expect to record as many as 50 species of birds at the site depending on weather and sightings. Our bird walk will be led by 2 experts in the birding field who will share their knowledge on how to look for birds and identify some of the well known species

Besides birds, we may also see several insect species as well as wildlife such as gazelles and giraffe

We will also visit the edge of Lake Magadi to catch a glimpse of Flamingos and other water birds

For this event, we’re restricting the maximum number of confirmed registrations to 30 so that we can keep the group size small enough for everyone to learn something and to keep the group together

Please also note that you’re required to bring the following:

  • At least 2.5 litres of water due to high temperatures in the area
  • Packed lunch and snacks
  • Sunhat, sun glasses, light clothes
  • Insect repellent
  • Closed shoes

Cost will cover the following:

  • Transport by bus from Nairobi and back
  • Guiding fees for the 2 birding experts
